26th Aug 2011, JLU ordered to stop using their spyware!
[16:46] Kara Timtam via comm: Kara Timtam | Justice Island <63,160,29> | 2011-08-26 4:30pm | Brainiac is hacked again, but will that stop us? Watch public areas for trouble please. - c11f46c08802522bcc7f50b59f3e186f
[16:47] Kara Timtam: Okay. We are not allowed to use our databases for inworld investigations anymore.
[16:48] Kara Kent [Kara Timtam]: They may have robbed us of this tool but the LEAGUE survives.
[16:48] Emiley Tomsen: We don't scan IPs though.
[16:48] Kara Kent [Kara Timtam]: That is true, and we never did.
[16:48] Kara Kent [Kara Timtam]: Kal will write a note card on the exact orders from LL.
[16:49] Kara Kent [Kara Timtam]: The League has not been shut down
[16:49] Kara Kent [Kara Timtam]: Hold on to that.
------------
Kalel Venkman: Oh, also, before we wrap up here, I wanted to say that the chances of them actually getting another copy of the BWiki are slim to none at this point. The first time was because we didn't take much trouble about hiding the presence of the site from the world and relied on a simple password check, which they managed to bypass.
Kalel Venkman: That bug has been fixed long ago.
Kalel Venkman: Years.
Kalel Venkman: The second time was when I bypassed our usual protocols and gave an infiltrator access to it. And again, we've changed our admissions policies and upgraded our procedures to the point where this too is not likely to happen a second time.
Kalel Venkman: The last thing they can try is to hack our server itself, and we've already caught them trying this - and failing. They were trying to exploit a bug in our web sites that we patched two years ago.
Maverick Grunfeld: It is possible to happen, but would require a 1. long standing resident involved and aroudn league members and 2. bad references from people around the table.
ZenMondo Wormser: I just have to say "Pride goeth before the fall" but I think we are more secrure these days.
Maverick Grunfeld: So, as always, before giving somebody a blessing here, make sure you've known them well for a very long time.
Vagabond Carter: right
Kalel Venkman: So stay alert, but on the other hand, don't drink the Kool-Aid. Tux has been bragging about how he had a mole in the League for over a year now, and if he actually had one, he'd have acted on information he uncovered that way, and all we've seen from him is guesswork based on a 1-3/4 year old partial copy of our wiki.
Kalel Venkman: So he's got nothing, and we know it.

Wait, it reveals the IP?
Millay Freschi had attempted to contact Kalel about her concerns regarding alt detection, via notecard. The permissions of the notecard made it unreadable, and Kalel had asked me to get hold of Millay if possible, since she is on my friends list.
Below is the conversation I had with her on October 30, 2010.
--Emiley Tomsen 13:13, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
Main points from the chat:
Millay does not want any alt-detection system used on any land she controls or works with, period.
Millay is going to petition Linden Labs to make alt detection a TOS violation.
[05:17:21] Emiley Tomsen: Hello Millay, Kalel told me you had tried
to get in touch with him about our alt detection system, but the
notecard you sent wasn't readable due to the permissions. Did you
recieve his message on that?
[05:21:50] millay Freschi: yes...i did receive a message that he
wasn't able to open that card
[05:22:20] millay Freschi: mostly i just want everyone who is using
that to know that I do NOT under any circumstance want that used on a
four bridges sim
[05:23:10] millay Freschi: i don't mean to sound disrespectful but i
feel that is in total violation of privacy. it's something i'm
intending to protest with linden
[05:24:04] Emiley Tomsen: Was Kalel able to get to talk to you
regarding your concerns?
[05:24:19] millay Freschi: no...i sent an IM but he must have been busy.
[05:25:01] millay Freschi: i know that some of our organizations work
with JLU and i just want to make sure that even in their workl for the
other orgs, those things are not permitted on 4B
[05:26:03] Emiley Tomsen: I can also answer questions you have on the
system, and I can also assure you that this is not meant to violate
anyone's privacy. We've been hearing some people spread rumours about
how they think the system reveals RL info, or lets us hack bank
accounts or other misinformation.
[05:26:27] millay Freschi: does it reveal the IP?
[05:26:45] Emiley Tomsen: Yes, but so do all websites.
[05:27:12] millay Freschi: yes i understand that. i really do but i
can't allow those on 4B.
[05:27:18] millay Freschi: i just can't
[05:27:58] millay Freschi: i think that there may be a time and a
place for them though frankly i can't imagine it my own self but i
worry about the privacy issues and what we're giving up by allowing
these sorts of things

JLU not concerned about another Wiki leak
JLU are not concerned about another Wiki leak.
[08:41:36] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The big news this morning is that Nicholas Mafia has broken into somebody's system - they haven't said who yet - and they've downloaded 80,000+ pages of something they're not supposed to have.
[08:41:48] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): oh dear lord
[08:41:50] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We have no idea who the victim is yet.
[08:41:57] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): I wonder if it's us again
[08:42:00] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): you checked the logs, yes?
[08:42:08] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We know it's not US, because we don't have 80,000 pages of anything.
[08:42:11] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Ah
[08:42:13] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I checked the logs, yes.
[08:42:19] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Yes, Kalel has been monitoring our logs anyway, just in case they were exaggerating
[08:42:39] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Well, it seems its only a matter of time until Atlas does something illegal enough to merit attention of the bar association.
[08:42:47] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And apart from my own backup operations, there's nothing in there to suggest that anybody who isn't supposed to be there has been downloading mass quantities of anything.
[08:43:08] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Law practice is a position of high public trust, Commiting crimes while in the profession is the height of hypocrisy
[08:44:08] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): *supposedly*, LulzSec is disbanding. Oh, yeah, I believe that one...NOT.
[08:44:43] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Translation: One of us got arrested: We're going to lay low a bit
[08:45:04] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): LulzSec broke into the Arizona Department of Public Safety and stole several emails. They said they were suspending activities but I didn't hear they were disbanding.
[08:45:20] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): here is a story about it LulzSec Calls it Quits
[08:45:29] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): said they were disbanding, they "reached the end of their 50-day cruise"
[08:45:38] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): And some agoraphobic (and predictably antisocial) 19 year old got arrested.
[08:45:40] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Uh huh.
[08:46:06] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): a haxx04 who CLAIMS he has "Aspergers".
[08:46:10] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): The FBI is cooperating with Scotland Yard (which itself is taking a hard line towards cyber crime)
[08:46:13] Bobkoe Nirvana: saw your note on email..just got in..forgive me for wearing wrong costume today
[08:46:13] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Was there an arrest, really?
[08:46:19] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): You don't have Aspergers, you're just a dick.
[08:46:22] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): THAT could be why Tux is laying low
[08:47:01] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Okay we were talking about Nicholas Mafia, right?
[08:47:03] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I kind of doubt it - Tux is in another country, and believes himself untouchable.
[08:47:23] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Sort of both, but in particular Nicholas Mafia.
[08:47:29] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Thanks for pulling us back on topic, Hal.
[08:47:34] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): You're welcome
[08:47:35] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Except that several arrests have taken place in England: three of whom were Anons
[08:47:57] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): And Scotland Yard is going after cybr criminals with some initiative, it seems.
[08:48:18] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): And the lkaw, it seems, is being amended to reflect a harder line
[08:48:22] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): *aw
[08:48:27] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): *law (pickles)
[08:48:31] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): So as far as what Nicholas Mafia is doing, all we can do is wait along with the rest of the community to see what they're actually doing.
[08:49:56] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We know that Atlas Saintlouis closely involved with Nicholas Mafia, and we have some conflicting information as to whether he was summarily responsible for their financial resources.
[08:50:33] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Financial resources. I've heard of those
[08:50:34] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We have stayed away from sending spies into the Nicholas mafia because it's a rat's nest of roleplay and ambiguous situations.
[08:50:47] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): It would be hard to be effective there.
[08:50:55] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Well, rival mafia groups aew attacking each other
[08:51:17] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We've been seeing that a lot - it's not Hacktivism, it's rival gangs attacking one another.
[08:51:28] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And trying to dress it up in a wig and a dress.
[08:51:37] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Exactly. And Hacktivism is just lulz with a new name.
[08:51:50] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Their own boards admit that
[08:52:02] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Is that so, Shay?
[08:52:06] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Interesting.
[08:52:21] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Can you find a URL that shows a quote?
[08:52:23] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): So I read, but accounts-predictably-conflict
[08:52:45] Kohaku Owatatsumi: YMMV
[08:53:05] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): As usual with anarchic groups, they do not act as one - given all possible courses of action, they simply choose all of them simultaneously.
[08:53:36] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): A hard learned lesson from our battles with the Patriotic Nigras.
[08:53:37] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): And they clearly DO have a leadership structure of sorts, one that mocks the canon fodder who buy into the whole anonymous myth
[08:54:15] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We've unfortunately got not a lot we can do for the moment.
[08:54:30] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We've reported it to the FBI and we hope they're paying attention, but there's no way to tell.
[08:54:48] Bobkoe Nirvana: wow.
[08:54:57] Bobkoe Nirvana: never know what to expect in second life
[08:56:09] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): A third party by the name of Blindstarebodine Braham is trying to lure Tux into divulging information to a friend of his.
[08:56:22] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Or rather, via a friend of his.
[08:56:25] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Hooboy
[08:56:33] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): That name is familiar
[08:56:40] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Yup-internicene rivalry
[08:56:44] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And so far, this person has gotten some information - not a lot very useful, but there are tidbits.
[08:57:29] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Ballers City person. I think I talked to him when I was trying to get us into that sim for patrolling.
[08:58:26] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Yup, March of 2010
[08:59:16] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Goes hand in hand with my own theory that hard core serial griefers are usually compensating for some real life issue or pathology
[08:59:26] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): But it's indicative of the quality of the information being extracted.
[08:59:41] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Yes, Ballers City.
[08:59:50] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): He has a very very high regard for the League, by the way.
[08:59:55] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Good
[09:00:08] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): He does. He contacted me first when I was scouting the place.
[09:00:15] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): I only go to Ballers Ciy in an alt-it's become Griefer central (tm)
[09:00:19] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): He also furnished us with the names of a couple of Tux alts.
[09:00:22] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): prism is simply a function that converges the images between the two lenses when you have trouble with focal convergence.
[09:00:56] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): I have prism incorporated in my own prescription because of that. It's not uncommon.
[09:01:11] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Yes, but in his case it's dramatic and severe.
[09:01:26] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): ANyway, I wonder if Tux is laying low because he may have had some link to one of those hackers arrested in the UK and is trying to lay low? Or worse: did his wife catch on?
[09:01:41] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I don't think his wife cares at all, to be frank.
[09:01:53] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Could be.
[09:02:14] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): But consider this: many teen hackers and some adults do what they do without the knowedge of their families.
[09:02:14] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Anyway, we're getting information from that quarter, but it's very slow going, and for obvious reasons.
[09:02:58] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We should know more in two or three weeks - maybe enough to give us what we need to get Tux the attention from the authorities he probably needs.
[09:03:38] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): I hope so. Maybe he's had a brush with the authorities already. That's my personal theory. It would explain his sudden comparatrive quietness
[09:04:06] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Bodine suggests that there's a good chance that Tux is involved in this big breakin somehow.
[09:04:15] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): No surprise.
[09:04:28] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): His alts apparently have some sort of ties to Nicholas Mafia.
[09:04:58] Bobkoe Nirvana: too bizarre
[09:05:14] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): If he suddenly had his machines confiscated by police forensic agents, I would cry bitter and salty tears of sympathy
[09:05:28] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I know I shouldn't be surprised that all these thugs all know each other and that this whole mess is intertwined like a plateful of garden snakes.
[09:05:30] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!
[08:41:36] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The big news this morning is that Nicholas Mafia has broken into somebody's system - they haven't said who yet - and they've downloaded 80,000+ pages of something they're not supposed to have.

A family friend becomes a Linden
[2011-05-08 18:12:57] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They certainly don't allow people in the server rooms.
[2011-05-08 18:13:37] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The only thing I can think of is the upcoming SLCC, Second Life what is it, Citizen's Convention?
[2011-05-08 18:13:58] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Last year they hosted a griefer hospitality suite, because a few of them are alcoholics.
[2011-05-08 18:14:07] The Dark Knight (maverick.grunfeld): ommunity convention [2011-05-08 18:14:14] The Dark Knight (maverick.grunfeld): *community
[2011-05-08 18:14:17] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And they defaced the Linden Lab building on Battery Street.
[2011-05-08 18:14:49] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): However, Linden Lab has been alerted that they might do this again this year, thanks to a connection Kara and I have.
[2011-05-08 18:15:18] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): I think they would have thought of it anyway, honestly.
[2011-05-08 18:15:24] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Hm, I wonder. How many of us Leaguers go onto the Beta Grid and patrol?
[2011-05-08 18:15:28] The Dark Knight (maverick.grunfeld): Hopefully this year if they pull the stunt, LL actually calls the cops instead of allowing them to deface private property
[2011-05-08 18:16:41] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Unfortunately getting information in and out of the Woodbury clan is difficult these days, due to the fact that they do almost everything in Skype now.
[2011-05-08 18:16:56] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Sounds like you need an Outsider. ;)
[2011-05-08 18:17:20] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Maybe so, Kami
[2011-05-08 18:18:14] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I think that's about it, actually.
[2011-05-08 18:18:43] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): But let us stop for a moment and question the legality of this - Hi, Tsu - before we do anything. Would it be legal for someone to go in and expose them, then spread said ifnormation all around Second Life? Even if it is for a good cause?
[2011-05-08 18:18:53] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Brilliant timing, Tosh.
[2011-05-08 18:19:01] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I've been speaking with Atlwolf Blabbermouth about the problem he was having with the Phantom Zone, and it turns out that he couldn't perform a local override of a global ban placed by the League.
[2011-05-08 18:19:10] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): *Ears perk*
[2011-05-08 18:19:16] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Atlwolf,huh? LOL.
[2011-05-08 18:19:28] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Oh, no, it wouldn't be ToS compliant to distribute that information in-world.
[2011-05-08 18:19:39] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Kami, no. Serious TOS violation, called "disclosure".
[2011-05-08 18:19:47] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): What about warning a Lidnen Lab employee about a potential attack?
[2011-05-08 18:19:57] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Done that, but offine.
[2011-05-08 18:19:59] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): offline
[2011-05-08 18:20:16] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): That would be fine, and we've already told our Linden on the inside that this might happen.
[2011-05-08 18:20:34] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): do they even listen to us anymore?
[2011-05-08 18:20:37] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We may need to give him more details, if we can uncover any information about that kind of activity, though.
[2011-05-08 18:20:37] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Linden on the inside? *Ears and a single eyebrow perk*
[2011-05-08 18:21:01] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): I heard some interesting rumors you might want to hear actually
[2011-05-08 18:21:25] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): A friend of mine from a game company I used to work at was married about five years ago, and he became a Linden after that.
[2011-05-08 18:21:36] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Ah.
[2011-05-08 18:21:38] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Yes, I think we'd be interested, Tosh.
[2011-05-08 18:21:41] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): What have you got?
[2011-05-08 18:21:53] Ookamisuke (ookamisuke.babenco): Though yearn my curiosity does to know, this Linden's cover, I will not ask you to blw.
[2011-05-08 18:22:14] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Nobody who interacts with the grid in any useful way. But he works in the building.
[2011-05-08 18:22:41] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): Not sure how accurate this is, but Whispers keep floating to whitheeavens Intel department, on a mole in Linden labs, Kinda like a "Griefer linden" , and how linden lab is also trying to shot themselves in the foot to get out of possiable partner ships or contracts
[2011-05-08 18:23:35] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Any substantiating information supporting either of these?
[2011-05-08 18:23:50] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): the second yes
[2011-05-08 18:23:56] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): I can go into further detail
[2011-05-08 18:23:58] Kara Kent (kara.timtam): Oh well, there was Rodney, I thought he got laid off.
[2011-05-08 18:24:09] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): He did. Go ahead, Tosh.
[2011-05-08 18:24:39] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): for the second, allot of recent "Moves" linden lab has made kinda makes sense on shotting themselves in the foot, examples would be, the Shot to the None profit Orgz,, land going up consistently
[2011-05-08 18:24:55] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): land prices*
[2011-05-08 18:25:15] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Nothing that you couldn't attribute to sheer cluelessness, Tosh.
[2011-05-08 18:25:20] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): i think they are trying to push business away, to possiable hit a Contract/partner ship termination they may have with someone or something
[2011-05-08 18:25:52] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): but thats all I have for now, I 'm still digging info on it to see if any of it is true or not
[2011-05-08 18:26:01] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Anything substantial, like a person who has access to actual information who said something?
[2011-05-08 18:26:18] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): well slightly, a while back I had spoke to Teeple linden
[2011-05-08 18:26:32] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): and He did mention a few things about contracts and stuff and the lab trying to get out of the deals/agreements
[2011-05-08 18:27:23] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): On the other hand, operating with the intent to underperform has legal ramifications, and severe ones.
[2011-05-08 18:27:37] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): well frontier is doing it currently too actually
[2011-05-08 18:27:40] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They may not sell stock, but they do have a board, and shareholders.
[2011-05-08 18:27:47] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Oh. Frontier.
[2011-05-08 18:27:49] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The burnout.
[2011-05-08 18:27:53] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): they raised tv installation prices to 500dollars for installs, they are trying to get out of contract
[2011-05-08 18:28:15] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Nothing Frontier has to say at this point is of any value, he's liable to say anything - remember that he was fired.
[2011-05-08 18:28:25] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Well - laid off.
[2011-05-08 18:28:30] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): I trust teeple
[2011-05-08 18:28:39] Tosh Silverwind (tsu.goodliffe): and I don't put my trust in people easily

15-08-2011 Meeting:
GreenLantern Excelsior: I suggest we purge that statement out of our log in anticipation of the next security breach on the wiki
ZenMondo Wormser: anyway I am against tampering with logs just to cover our ass if something gets out. Does not seem the right thing to do
Kalel Venkman: And now for something completely different: September 18 is Kindness Day.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Agreed.
Siobhan McCallen: Better to just keep it from getting the hell broken into.
GreenLantern Excelsior: Well this will look great when it comes out in the Herald some day. Just saying...
Kalel Venkman: We never tamper with our logs for that reason. In fact, over the years I've said a lot of things on the record that I regret saying that were embarrassing to me personally.
Kalel Venkman: But we don't redact that information just because it might be embarrassing.
Siobhan McCallen: WE did nothing wrong here.
Kalel Venkman: And right now, we're in the right, and we know it.
Siobhan McCallen: What are we talking about hiding information for?
Kalel Venkman: Anyway, September 18, Kindness Day.
GreenLantern Excelsior: For next time the Bwiki is stolen
ZenMondo Wormser: Owning what you say is part of personal repsonsibility. Learning from misspeaking and changing your attitude when you are wrong is personal growth.
Siobhan McCallen: So what if it's stolen? WE'VE DONE NOTHING WRONG.
GreenLantern Excelsior: You're not seeing the point
Kalel Venkman: Here's what Zaira Gearbox said in her notecard:
Vagabond Carter: why, nothing wrong with that , we arnt quoting him
Kalel Venkman: A final reminder - that graph at http://kryptonradio.com/webalizer doesn't just show how much of a voice and how much reach and influence we currently have - it's an indicator of how much MORE influence we're going to have in the near future.
Siobhan McCallen: Griefer is not a series of acts. It is a state of mind. It is someone who refuses to use logic and evidence, and appeals to mob emotion and wild leaps of imagination.
GreenLantern Excelsior: We finally have a Linden talking to us again. If word gets out that it happened, they will shut up again.
GreenLantern Excelsior: We need to learn our lesson on this
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Hm?
Vagabond Carter: Soft isnt goernance though
Kohaku Owatatsumi: The Lindens that were on speaking terms with us before were all fired.
Kalel Venkman: He's referring to Soft Linden. No, he's not.
Vagabond Carter: all he does id bug work
GreenLantern Excelsior: He's a Linden. That's what counts
Vagabond Carter: is
Kalel Venkman: But he has governance's ear, and he'll act on our behalf on software related exploits.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Ahh, a debugger *nods*
Kalel Venkman: So it's not the same as a general field agent, but we'll take what we can get.
Vagabond Carter: if we can show him what he needs to show them
Heidi Stiglitz: The concern is that it could cause trouble for the Lindens talking to us at that time
Siobhan McCallen: That's THEIR lookout.
GreenLantern Excelsior: Didn't Soft tell us why Tux was banned?
Kalel Venkman: I'm not concerned about another wiki theft. The probability of that happening now is very low now that the Wrong Hands is fully exposed as thieves and griefers, and they have no bully pulpit anymore.
Kalel Venkman: They just have a griefer blog.
Kalel Venkman: So what?
Kalel Venkman: He told us that the people responsible for the spyware system were banned.
[2011-05-08 18:13:37] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The only thing I can think of is the upcoming SLCC, Second Life what is it, Citizen's Convention?

JLU can override land owners wishes through PhantomZone!
Meeting of July 3, 2011 evening
Tux Winkler engineers a hoax - what appears to be a fully functioning Phantom Zone node at Revolution, but isn't.
Seems the JLU can override a land owners wishes!
[18:08:53] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Look at this, wow. Good job, Hal.
[18:08:59] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Thank you
[18:09:44] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): This is fairly recent, actually.
[18:09:50] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): One more coming
[18:09:52] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): still faked
[18:09:56] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): At least within the last two months.
[18:10:20] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): But there's no Whitelist notecard in PZ, it
uses a database for that.
[18:10:30] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): copybotted...
[18:10:41] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Copybot can't copy scripts.
[18:10:43] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): last owner..
[18:10:49] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): hmm true
-----
[18:13:07] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): still useless if hes dumb
enough to turn it on trusting'
[18:13:10] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): It happens to be the very latest beta.
[18:13:50] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): That's a real one.
[18:14:01] PhantomZoneNode v0.5.14 BETA: Node added to network Kalel
Venkman/League of Heroes. Running.
[18:14:03] PhantomZoneNode v0.5.14 BETA: Warning: Node is not owned by land
owner, and cannot enforce bans. Make sure object is deeded to same group as
land, if applicable.
[18:14:05] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): the network iasnt though
[18:14:22] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): the hovertext is smoke and
mirrors
[18:14:23] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Interesting.
[18:15:04] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): This is an obvious forgery, because the 5.14
beta said 5.13 when we released it. It only said 5.14 on the prim, not the
floating text.
-----
[18:16:39] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Looks like they went to some
trouble to put scripts in there with the same name as ours uses. Tux asked me to
come to Revolution to look at something for him, and this was it.
[18:16:41] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): afka while
[18:16:58] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And again, it would be far easier to just get
a copy from somebody they knew.
[18:17:08] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): You know if it does have the scripts
running in it the real ones couldn;t a leage memeber turn them on and have it
kick everyone?
-----
[18:19:25] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): yeo , fake
[18:19:29] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They haven't got a network, therefore, their
node is not active.
[18:19:30] Vagabond 'Tony' Carter (vagabond.carter): 'afk again
[18:19:33] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): It's a forgery.
[18:20:31] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Anyway, that's where we're at with this.
[18:20:32] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): well here is the thing. As a League Member
if it is a legitimate copy with additional scripts if they left ours in to seem
legit we CAN set up a network and turn it on with our League override.
[18:21:05] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Assuming the scripts are active.
[18:21:13] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): I just think it would be funny from a
pratical joke point of view.
[18:21:26] Kohaku Owatatsumi: Turn it on, ban them from their own estate

JLU & Pete Linden - Off the record
Another day, another leak.
Today we have parts of the wiki showing JLU speaking "Off the record" with a Linden, who wanted it to remain off the record...only for JLU to put it on their wiki. It is now very much ON the record. It is regarding the Alphaville Herald.

About the Justice League Unlimited:
============
The Justice League Unlimited (JLU) in Second Life (SL) is a public service organization who pattern their avatars after classic comic book heroes. While JLU members may model their avatars after these fictional personas, the JLU is not a super-hero role-playing group. The mission of the JLU is to provide mentoring and render aid to SL residents in need, primarily new residents, in such areas as building, scripting and security. The JLU often acts as a neighborhood watch organization. We also hold seminars and conventions on public safety, and help estate managers learn effective techniques for keeping their own lands safe.

JLU Meeting 14th August
Pre meeting chat shows that the JLU has in fact called them and has basically told them it's not their thing, as have the FBI.
Emiley Tomsen: Meeting starts at 830, going to stick around for it?
Ginrai Yamabushi: What's new otherwise?
Emiley Tomsen: Not a whole lot, still watiting on word from RL authorities if anyone will take our case.
Ginrai Yamabushi: Like FBI right?
Emiley Tomsen: FBI, Scotland Yard, anyone that might listen.
Ginrai Yamabushi: Good
Emiley Tomsen: Scotland Yard responded once, but hasn't called back after saying they didn't think they had jurisdiction.
Ginrai Yamabushi: what about Interpol?
Emiley Tomsen: This is too small scale for them to handle really, Scotland Yard has their own cyber-crimes division.
Emiley Tomsen: Of course, getting them to see that they do have jurisdiction is one thing, trying to get the feds here to respond would help greatly. Since the DDoS attacks did happen from American servers.
Ginrai Yamabushi: I was going to get the Feds involved when I saw my info posted online
Emiley Tomsen: Have you had any luck?
Ginrai Yamabushi: I didn't call after I talked to Kal-El
Emiley Tomsen: Uh, why, what did he say?
Ginrai Yamabushi: talk to Linden Lab, and also send a message to Google
Emiley Tomsen: That, really doesn't help. Linden Lab will only say they don't deal with third-party sites, and Google will ignore it. You really need to call the FBI, and ask them to look into it, as it relates to attacks on websites.
Ginrai Yamabushi: I was on the website when I saw that
Ginrai Yamabushi: from Kal
Emiley Tomsen: We need big league help, and right now, the Feds are the only ones, aside from getting a lawyer who can help us.
Ginrai Yamabushi: Yeah definately
Ginrai Yamabushi: I have to run, but I will be back
And then in the meeting, Kalel bullshits the whole group into his fantasy of working with Scotland Yard:
Kalel Venkman: She also puzzled out who Tux's probable employer is, and the name of his boss.
Samantha Lowell: WE choose to be the best of ourselves online, or the worst of ourselves online. Which path we choose speaks volumes about the sotrs of people who sit behind the avatars,
Melanippe Karas laughs a dark and anticipatory laugh.
Kalel Venkman: That's right, [-- REMOVED RL NAME --], that's what separates us. With our anonymity (or what's left of it these days. :/ ) we choose to do good.
Kara Timtam: I feel I must point out that looking for Tux's RL information gives some verity to his claims that we stalk.
Kalel Venkman: If we chose to use that ourselves, it would.
Kalel Venkman: But the plan is to give this information to Scotland Yard, which we are doing.
Kalel Venkman: We are currently in contact with Scotland Yard - and yes, they actually called us back.
Kalel Venkman: Unlike our own FBI.
Siobhan McCallen: Stalking: A person who intentionally and repeatedly follows or harasses another person and who makes a credible threat, either expressed or implied, with the intent to place that person in reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm is guilty of the crime of stalking. A person may be charged with aggravated stalking if they commit the crime of stalking while subject to a temporary restraining order, injunction against trespass, or similar order.
Kalel Venkman: So we are carefully preparing as much information as we have, as they have specifically instructed us. So we are currently operating under instructions from Scotland Yard.
Kalel Venkman: So the casual "drive-by" griefers don't have a place to copy and paste from.
Kalel Venkman: Emiley did some digging, by the way.
Kalel Venkman: Tux has the domain name 'reallifesupervillians.org'.
Melanippe Karas: As if.
Kalel Venkman: Probably a knee-jerk reaction to reallifesuperheroes.org.
Kalel Venkman: After we plugged them on the Krypton Radio site.
Kara Timtam: UK police are going armed these days.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Aye, I noticed o.o
Samantha Lowell: I remember there was a big stink about how Lulzsec could hack Verizon. It turns out it was just as simple as having a lulzsec member who worked some menial job at Verzon and he had a password. These people are nowhere near as clever as they want us to believe.
Siobhan McCallen: Primarily because Google is well aware of the Greater Internet F**kwad Theory, and won't let them be anonymous on their system.
Samantha Lowell: In addition, it seems to be open season no Anonymous these days, so I'm surprised they'd be interested in anything but covering their asses (pardon my French)
Kalel Venkman: There are actually laws on the books that directly forbid the creation of a communication system that has no capacity for monitoring by law enforcement.
Kalel Venkman: So they'd be very interested.
Kalel Venkman: Whoever reserved the domain name would be first on the list to talk to.
Kalel Venkman: If you're going to run an Anonymous service, the first thing you have to be is anonymous.
Kalel Venkman: Apparently they're not.
And them some ego stroking by way of more fantasy:
Kalel Venkman: Oh, one other small note, by the way, Krypton Radio last week was in the top 9% of all sites on the internet.
Kalel Venkman: As of last night, we moved up 1%.
Kalel Venkman: We are now in the top 8%.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Yikes.
Siobhan McCallen: woot!
Ginrai Yamabushi: sweet
Kalel Venkman: I'm pretty pleased too.
Samantha Lowell: Wow
Kalel Venkman: So because we're now running at about half a million hits a month (that translates to a rough average of a thousand unique visitors per day), we're starting to work on how to get this thing to actually start bringing in some money to help us finance not only the station but our operations in-world, and even start paying people.
Wasn't they saying they had been subjected to a DDOS attack? Hits up at the time the site was down? See no link?
Kohaku Owatatsumi: There are a couple of adserver thingamies out there
Kalel Venkman: Yeah, there are, and we're using one of the better ones.
Kalel Venkman: But they're only good for about $5 a month on average.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Which better one are wqe using?
Kalel Venkman: We're looking into paid sponsorships as being primary movers for our needs.
Kalel Venkman: Oh, yes, that reminds me of a couple of things.
Kalel Venkman: First, the Star Wars RP community has gotten rather excited about the idea of doing their own weekly podcast about the Star Wars RP scene here in Second Life.
Kalel Venkman: And this sharpened when I told them Krypton Radio might be interested in putting it on the air if they did it.
Ginrai Yamabushi: Wow...!!!!
Kalel Venkman: Now here's the interesting thing: this Star Wars RP group is headed up by none other than Cayce Urriah, aka [-- CAYCE'S ALT NAME REMOVED --].
Kalel Venkman: Formerly of the JLU.
Melanippe Karas: Hah.
Kalel Venkman: Cayce left on ethical grounds. He had a lot of friends in Woodbury at the time and felt that membership in the League represented a strong conflict of interest.
Samantha Lowell: Hmmmmm
Melanippe Karas: That sounds ethical in itself.
Kalel Venkman: After he left the League, Cayce fed us a near continuous stream of detailed information about Woodbury and Tizzers and their operations.
Kara Timtam: [-- CAYCE'S ALT NAME REMOVED --] IM'ed me the other evening actually, just saying hi.
Kalel Venkman: This information may have contributed to the eventual destruction of Woodbury.
Samantha Lowell: So *that's* where all that was coming from.
Kalel Venkman: Cayce is now inquiring as to whether he might rejoin the League.
Kalel Venkman: And I promised him I'd bring up the question in open discussion.
Kalel Venkman: Now my reservations include the fact that he was very close to the Woodbury for a long time, and that when it came time to make his decision, he chose his friendships with them over his service to the League.
Kara Timtam: Ah. Now I know shy he was trying to talk to me.
Siobhan McCallen: I don't know Cayce well enough to have an opinion
Sumalee Capelo: What is his relationship now with those people?
Kara Timtam: *why
Sumalee Capelo: If they come back, will he again leave JLU?
Kalel Venkman: As far as I can tell, nearly none. After a while I think they figured out that anything he was exposed to ended up in our sphere of knowledge about them.
Kalel Venkman: And they just stopped talking to him and started excluding him from everything.
Sumalee Capelo: Ah, then all is well.
Samantha Lowell: I like Cayce, and he's honest, but I want to know where his loyalties lie: Us or them?
Kalel Venkman: That's when he got busy with the Mandalorean faction in the Star Wars RP scene and immersed himself in it.
Melanippe Karas: He quit then helped anyway. That sounds pretty obvious.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: *nods*
Melanippe Karas: If he hadn't quit, where would we be in terms of intelligence?
Siobhan McCallen: Did the information only flow one way?
Samantha Lowell: True. Just playing Quesada's Advocate.
Kalel Venkman: The information only flowed one way.
Siobhan McCallen: okay.
Kalel Venkman: He never asked any questions about the League or its activities, ever.
Sumalee Capelo: I would say wait a month or two to let him join so because right now we are fragile.
Siobhan McCallen: so he never had anything to pass back to them. ok, makes sense.
Kalel Venkman: If he hadn't quit - hmm.
Sumalee Capelo: and cannot take risk
Kalel Venkman: I have similar concerns, Sumalee.
Sumalee Capelo: let the Pixeleen thing blow over
Kalel Venkman: But I also want to point out that we have been working on a state of constant lockdown for three years.
Siobhan McCallen: I had one interaction with Cayce, long ago. He was using superhearing in a sandbox. I questioned its ToS legality, and he stopped using it immediately. I liked that.
Samantha Lowell: Not fragile, maybe, but I agree: Rather than concretely choose one side over another, he quit. Too many questions just yet to reach any decision.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Was it that long ago?
Kohaku Owatatsumi: The breakin and the compromise of B?
Kalel Venkman: The breaking and compromising of the BrainiacWiki took place in January of 2010.
Kara Timtam: seems like only yesterday!
Melanippe Karas: Close enough.
Kalel Venkman: I see that the same concerns about Cayce rejoining when we talked about this about a year ago are still very much on our minds today.
Samantha Lowell: And in the end, he choose friendship with people he knew to be bad eggs over his oath. friendship shopping or not.....let's say we'll need proof that he's changed his compass.
Siobhan McCallen: I don't think Cayce is bad. To the contrary, he picks his moral ground and stands on it. That's commendable and honorable. But I still get a choice on whether I like the outcome of his decisions, and my subsequent choices.
Kalel Venkman: So that's sort of a heart thing as contrasted to a head thing.
Samantha Lowell: Possble, but like Kara said: Only a double agent knows for sure what side he's on.
Kara Timtam: I feel we can not afford the vulnerability.
Siobhan McCallen: Undercover agents don't leave the original organization. They stay a part of it, just secretly.
Kalel Venkman: It feels to me as though he's friendship shopping.
Samantha Lowell: Probably yes.
Samantha Lowell: But until he fdinds his compass, he could prove a weakness that Tux and others like him could exploit
Kalel Venkman: That's an excellent point.
Kalel Venkman: And Tux's great strength is to make people doubt their own convictions.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: I will say this.
Samantha Lowell: Agreed. Look what he did to poor [-- VAGABOND's RL NAME REMOVED --], for example. Bad guys can be charming and persuasive, too
Siobhan McCallen: at the time, he had to choose being a part of our group and service to the JLU, or his friendships with them. He chose them. Clearly, he felt those friendships were more important to him at the time, since that's what side his ethics fell on. They could have fallen on rejecting friendship with griefers instead.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: They made me question my presence here, once.
Kohaku Owatatsumi: Witness with your own eyes the result.
Samantha Lowell: Cayce isn't bad. I think hges susceptible, that's all, and that's concern enough.
Kara Timtam: This is sounding a lot like "Not Now" to me, probably "not ever" but only probably
Melanippe Karas: So let's talk with him over in Steelhead.
Samantha Lowell: Agreed. Cayyce helped us, and I'm grateful, but he has, honestly, some 'splaining to do.
GreenLantern Excelsior: Are our websites and equipment still broken?
Kalel Venkman: No, we're in pretty solid shape right now, Hal.
GreenLantern Excelsior: b id [-- CAYCE'S ALT NAME REMOVED --]
GreenLantern Excelsior: Oh, okay, wasn't working the other way
Kalel Venkman: Our hosting service could not fix the problem with the server box our virtual server was on - so they simply powered it down, grabbed the handle on the insert card and physically pulled it out.
Kalel Venkman: They put our module into a new physical box.
Samantha Lowell: good
Kalel's summary:
Kalel Venkman: In a nutshell, the morning meeting covered the fact that we may have figured out who Tux's employer is, the fact that we're in active dialog with Scotland Yard about it, observations about griefing activity post-Red Square, and concerns about Cayce Urriah rejoining the League.
Kalel Venkman: In essence, nothing you didn't already know. No new revelations.
RL Stalking? A member of the JLU tailed Tizzers during the SLCC event.
Maverick Grunfeld: Yesterday, Tizzers hosted a RL party at SLCC
Kalel Venkman: That's what I hear.
Kalel Venkman: Smitty Boyau is there.
Kalel Venkman: Said Tizzers has calmed down a lot since last year, nowhere near the festering boil of rage he was.
Kalel Venkman: But says he's still got some in him.

JLU Hackers?
In the meeting of 17th July 2011, the JLU discuss hiding the fact that two members are hackers. One of which a senior scripter on PhantomZone.
[09:14] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Kal I wanted to talk to you about an idea for an Editorial for KR
[09:17] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Well as someome from the old-new-school of computer hacking I wanted to share my views (and dismay) at the marriage of the hacker culture with the trolling culture.
[09:18] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Zen, I think that's something we need to learn more about
[09:18] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): most people I know view the two as inseparable
[09:19] Emiley Tomsen: I'd be in favor of seeing your story, we'd want to go over it before publishing it of course. Would you be talking about your former life as a hacker in the story?
[09:19] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): There has always been a bit of merry-pranksterism in Hacker circles but really the idea of a good haker joke would combine technical acumen with harmlessness. Not so with trolls.
[09:19] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I agree that the popular definition of the term has changed over time.
[09:19] Kohaku Owatatsumi: Linguistic evolution, again
[09:20] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Its just this anonymous beast is just a mishmash maybe I am showing my age I dunno
[09:21] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Zen, I think the trolls have coopted the term hacker. It's a timely issue, one we really should cover. Great idea
[09:21] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): for those that don't know I was heavily involved in the Hacker scene from the late 80s to the late 90s it was one of the reasons I was an immigrant to AMsterdam to hang out with the Dutch Hackers. That was my circle of friends when I lived there.
[09:22] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): That actually has some potential as an article, Zen.
[09:22] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Ok will wirte up a first draft and have it on your desk inside of three days
[09:23] Emiley Tomsen: My concern would be on the article, do you feel comfortable discussing your past? Since I'm sure some of our regular griefers will try to blast us over it, having a member who turned from the darkside, as it were.
[09:26] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): That's the only aspect of the article that I don't feel completely comfortable about.
[09:26] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): Being a hacker in the 80's isn't an issue. Being part of a griefer group *here in SL* would be. But THAT, no one here has been.
[09:26] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): It could be used as a bludgeon.
[09:26] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Agreed. we can leave out personal background and just make it am academic article
[09:26] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Leave personal stuff out of it, so we remain untouched
[09:27] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): Heck, *I* was a hacker in the 70's. I was in high school. Whoopie shite-twang.
[09:27] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I dunno, Shay, I think his personal perspective is what would make the article worth reading.
[09:28] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Eh I don;'t know how darkside I was. I had a code. When I stole I copied and left originals intact, I never vandalized when I cracked systems I did not punch MORE holes in the security. That kind of thing
[09:28] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): I suggest we prepare drafts with both formats. We can always edit out personal stuff later on.
[09:28] Emiley Tomsen: I'm not against it, I'm just saying I don't want Zen to disclose anything he's not comfortable with. And that could possibly be used against him or anyone else. Another angle is, it shows someone who used to do some ethically questionable things can go good guy.
[09:29] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): Statute of limitations is past on it in any case.
[09:29] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): I think that kind of information could be used against us. "JLU fights griefers but they have hackers in their membership." The Herald would love that.
[09:29] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): And editing for format is drill. If we DO this as an academic artucke, it could be safer and less usable by the oppostion.
[09:29] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): thats what I think. Anything I have done is past statute of limitations.
[09:29] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Hal's got a hell of a point.
[09:30] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): We would never live that down
[09:30] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): I agree with hal, but Zen's idea is still brilliant. We can easilly do without personal stuff, if the risk is deemed too great
[09:30] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Well I don't see my time as a HAcker as a shameful thing.
[09:30] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Of course not. You're an honorable man
[09:30] Bobkoe Nirvana: thats the main point
[09:30] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): "The JLU has *reformed* hackers from 30 years ago in their membership." Geez, why not just blame him for Watergate and be done with it?
[09:30] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Alas, the opposition is prone to distorying truths.
[09:31] Jenny Everywhere (siobhan.mccallen): You're Deep Throat, aren't you, Zen? Admit it!
[09:31] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): LOL
[09:31] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell) strangles inher coffee
[09:31] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): However, Zen, it could be easily twisted into something else, and it would paint a great big bull's eye on the Justice League if we were to run an "I was a hacker" story.
[09:31] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): I mean its not something you outgrow its something you refocus. Stallman and Trovalds are Hackers as I am, more so and they are not seen as bad guys.
[09:32] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Not exactly in the same sense, Zen.
[09:32] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They were hackers before that meant people who made a hobby of defeating security measures.
[09:33] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Hell Stallman has a story of him craxking all the passwords at MIT and encouraging people to use the return key as his password,
[09:33] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Not only the audience, but people who would love nothing more than to take another swipe at us.
[09:33] Emiley Tomsen: I think it would be ok for Zen to write what he wants, and then we can review it and go from there.
[09:33] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I concur.
[09:33] Bobkoe Nirvana: yes
[09:34] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I think that regardless of the immediate disposition of the article, it's something that should be written.
[09:35] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Agreed. We should prepare two drafts: One with personal info, one without
[09:35] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Sounds prudent
[09:35] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): I think the "personal investment" part of the editorial gives it an emotional punch. ANd Like I said it was 20 years ago I was doing illegal stuff not last week. In fact the most current crack was kind of freindly just telling someone the contents of thier inbox a week after they asked if I was really a hacker about 6 or 7 years ago.
[09:35] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): If we decide to do the one without, we can publish the one WITH in BWiki, so it's not lost :)
[09:37] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): My personal perspective would be, given our job and adversaies, we consider erring on the side of caution and going the purely academic route, citing "primary resources"
[09:37] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): anyway I am a professional and have been through editorial many times. Sometimes good sometimes painful.
[09:38] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Agreed.
[09:38] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Great works aren't written, Zen.
[09:38] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They're re-written.
[09:38] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Did I ever mention my first paid writing gig was under the pseudonym Cal L. Kent?
[09:38] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Editors tend to drink blood of writers and sleep in coffins made of their tears.
[09:39] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Okay - I think we're about done for the morning,
[09:14] Zen-El (zenmondo.wormser): Kal I wanted to talk to you about an idea for an Editorial for KR

Soft Linden Interactions Part 2
[08:39 AM] Kalel Venkman: Anyway, last week we were looking at the front page of
Hazim Gazov's web site wondering where the real content was.
[08:39 AM] Kalel Venkman: Now we know.
[08:39 AM] Samantha Lowell: I meant to ask about that myself
[08:39 AM] Samantha Lowell: That code had me puzled
[08:39 AM] Kalel Venkman: [-- LINK REMOVED IN CASE OF ANY RL INFO --]
[08:39 AM] Melanippe Karas: ?
[08:40 AM] Kalel Venkman: That's the front end of his griefer blog.
[08:40 AM] Kalel Venkman: He's still in it up to his eyebrows.
[08:40 AM] Kalel Venkman: Now we can track what he's up to.
[08:41 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Cool.
[08:41 AM] Kalel Venkman: We can also hand over the site to the Lindens who can
find a way to block anyone attempting to use that client.
[08:41 AM] Emiley Tomsen: They know about that site actually, SOft Linden told
me.

Soft Linden Interactions Part 1
Another day, another leak.
After searching Soft's name, quite a lot of hits came up, I will steadily release what I find about him from the wiki.
This page was so poorly formatted I had to just copy the text.
I will screen shot it if there is doubt.
This shows Emiley contacting Soft directly and him *surprise surprise* helping them out. It is an interesting post about us for sure!
Sephora Mafia
On July 20, 2011 - A group calling themselves the Saphora Mafia initiated an Distributed Denial of Service Attack originating from inside SL against the Krypton Radio website, which also disabled Bwiki and some of our in-world systems.
While not seen at first, they created a twitter account (@SephoraMafia) and publicly claimed responsibility for the attack in a message that to the public implied it, but to those who know about SL Mafias, it would be clear.
Third message: @KryptonRadio "This user has blocked you from following them." Oh that is fantastic. Ignorance is bliss, right?
Second message: @KryptonRadio Why so silent? Thinking up some more ISP related excuses are we?...tango down
First message: @KryptonRadio Nice excuse about 'ISP Issues', is that why it is down again? Maybe there is another reason for it
Thank you [-- SOFT LINDEN'S RL NAME --], your help is greatly appreciated. Our site is back up, have a wonderful day.

JLU discuss the death of Deadlycodec
This is really chilling. I have removed the RL links, names etc out of respect.
I have also posted his profile page below.
Meeting 17th October 2010
[08:17 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Kalel, I just pulled a huge thread.
[08:18 AM] Kalel Venkman: Oh, yeah?
[08:18 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Would you be surprised is [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] was related to [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---]?
[08:18 AM] Kalel Venkman: Not terribly?
[08:18 AM] Kalel Venkman: Is that the case?
[08:18 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Seems to be true.
[08:18 AM] Melanippe Karas: Snow operations, or merely afterlife?
[08:18 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Several broken marriages.
[08:19 AM] Kalel Venkman: How did you find this out?
[08:19 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Facebook is a very good friend.
[08:19 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] (who has ties to [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---]) is shown as a sibling of [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---], sister of Deadly.
[08:20 AM] Kalel Venkman: So it might be a stepsister.
[08:20 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: But its looking to be an extremely strong tie.
[08:20 AM] Kara Timtam: Blame the evil steps, as usual
[08:20 AM] Melanippe Karas: Wonderful, Carter.
[08:20 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] comes from a split family.
[08:20 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: I got that confirmed.
[08:20 AM] Kalel Venkman: So do I.
[08:20 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: The tie back to [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] though I'm still working.
...
[08:35 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: On the nothing to report side is Rancor and Aleph - we still lack eyes there.
[08:36 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Troll Manual though hasn't had any new content updates for 14 days. And we haven't seen N3X15 around lately, so they must be distracted with other activities.
[08:36 AM] Kalel Venkman: And the next bit of news might be why.
[08:37 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: There's been a swirl on if DeadlyCodac, former leader/hacker of the PN is really dead or not. The story broke from Prok, who seems to firmly believe it is a ruse.
[08:37 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: However, some Facebook research firmly shows that he is indeed dead or on his death bed.
[08:38 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Several of Deadly's family members have Facebook wall posts of going to the hospital and holding hands with Deadly.
[08:38 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Sisters mostly.
[08:38 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: But do we have any independent confirmation?
[08:38 AM] Samantha Lowell: I don't wish that on anyone-but it's sad that nobody believes him. :( Still, a terminal illness does explain his behavior, doesn't it?
[08:38 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: I would think his sisters and mother aren't PN hackers.
[08:38 AM] Kalel Venkman: It rather does.
[08:39 AM] Kalel Venkman: I think photos of people with Deadly on his death bed are probably good enough corroboration.
[08:39 AM] Melanippe Karas: Paranoia follow-through would ask whether those sisters are real accounts.
[08:39 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Photos can be faked.
[08:39 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Do we have any independent sources giving us the same information.
[08:39 AM] Kara Timtam: I don't blame Prok for the cynicism...
[08:39 AM] Melanippe Karas: And that person said 'of course it's true, this flimsy source said so'.
[08:39 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: These accounts have been around for years Mel.
[08:40 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Detailed facebook accounts.
[08:40 AM] Melanippe Karas: And Haruhi was around how long?
[08:40 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Less than a year Mel.
[08:40 AM] Jeffrey Essex: well can send prays sympthy and all that but should we exuse the eactions?
[08:40 AM] Jeffrey Essex: prayers
[08:40 AM] Melanippe Karas laughs
[08:40 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Given these sisters have tons of facebook friends, photos, etc, it seems like its the real deal.
[08:40 AM] Kara Timtam: "Hate the sin but love the sinner" as they say, Jeff.
[08:41 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Deadly himself didn't have an open profile, but his family members do.
[08:41 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Younger teenybopper sisters and cousins.
[08:41 AM] Jeffrey Essex: kara i think thats what i as trying to say yea
[08:41 AM] Samantha Lowell: Sad that nobody believes him. His own record works against him.
[08:41 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Still, we really need some independent confirmation to verify it. It could very well be true but then again, still possible it might not be without independent verification.
[08:41 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Mind the disclosure:
[08:41 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- TWO FACEBOOK LINKS REMOVED OUT OF RESPECT FOR PRIVACY ---]
[08:41 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: That's one of this sisters, and the most major poster of news
[08:42 AM] Kara Timtam: So... what other alts have gone silent since Deadly's departure from SL?
[08:42 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: 457 friends, built profile, I hardly think its fake folks.
[08:42 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: His other sister posts here:[--- TWO FACEBOOK LINKS REMOVED OUT OF RESPECT FOR PRIVACY ---]
[08:42 AM] Melanippe Karas: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---]'s doesn't show me anything.
[08:42 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Given the mass amount of random, unrelated friends, yeah, its legit.
[08:43 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Are you logged in Mel?
[08:43 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: fact checking is done. [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---], a sister of Deadly posts on Oct 11th:
[--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] Ugh.... Doc visits always take too long. Been here an hour and still no doc.....
[--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] Don't know yet.... still haven't seen the doc. He had to run to the hospital for an emergency
[08:43 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: On the 15th:
[--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] Please pray for my grandfather and my brother [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---]......
[08:44 AM] Kalel Venkman: So as of that post, [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] is quite possibly still alive.
[08:44 AM] Melanippe Karas snorts
[08:44 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Depends on the status of his grandfather.
[08:45 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: That would imply either he went to "join" their grandfather or their grandfather is also ill.
[08:47 AM] Kalel Venkman: In this case, this is a body of information that indicates that DeadlyCodec has almost certainly been committed to a hospital or hospice, and may be dead.
[08:48 AM] Kalel Venkman: From that last post, he's either near death's door, or on the threshold, or passed over it.
[08:48 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: If we know his name and where he lives, there should be an obituary of some sort if he's dead or dies soon.
[08:48 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: That would be independent verfication.
[08:48 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Right, and his other sister [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] has posts of the same information.
[08:48 AM] Kalel Venkman: We do know his name, and we do know where he lives - though some people do not get obituaries.
[08:48 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: About her head hurting, holding hands and an outpouring of grief from her friends.
[08:49 AM] Kara Timtam: County records, perhaps.
[08:49 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: If they're giving this much of an outpouring of sorrow, I'd think they would.
[08:49 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Prok's source had a direct connection to Deadly's Facebook.
[08:49 AM] Kalel Venkman: An outpouring of grief, meaning if he's on the road, there's no turning back.
[08:49 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Which is what her article was based on, and the one she dismissed. The data though is strong this is real.
[08:50 AM] Kara Timtam: Just automatically discounting the given word of a known liar, in this case, seems incomplete.
[08:50 AM] Jeffrey Essex: Maybe we should just put that on hold tell we can find out for sure.
[08:50 AM] Kara Timtam: Well, we shall see.
[08:50 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Following up on the relatives pretty much has this locked down.
[08:50 AM] Zania Turner: Depending on the funeral home too, and how up to date they are on current technology, they might even have something on their website if they're handling the arrangements for the family. I know we did that for my grandmother, although we still opted to do an obit in the local paper and one of the two major papers in the area
[08:50 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] seems to be doing a lot of mobile updates, we can just continue tot track it.
[08:50 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Yes, if it is real, you'll easily find independent confirmation elsewhere.
[08:51 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: On October 6th: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] I'm spending the night at the hospital, which usually doesn't bother me, but I was invited to go bowling and do some other stuff and I really wanted to go and I can't now. Which is okay, just a little sad because I like the distractions. It would have been nice.
[08:51 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: December [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] Sorry girl! I know your mom and brother appreciate what you're doing though. Hang in there, prayers are with you! LOVE YOU!
[08:52 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Here's why I think he is truly gone:
[08:52 AM] Zania Turner: The confirmation will likely come within a couple of days after he passes, so keeping an eye on the facebook accounts will definitely help
[08:52 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] My hand hurts. :( Yesterday at 10:25am
[08:52 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] Me too honey thanks for being such a wonderful daughter and all the help and support you have given. 3 hours ago
[08:52 AM] Kalel Venkman: Which indicates a closure.
[08:52 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Pretty much.
[08:52 AM] Melanippe Karas: That sounds like the grandfather.
[08:53 AM] Kalel Venkman: It does.
[08:54 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: The next interesting note from all of this is [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] may or may not be related to Deadly.
[08:54 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Which would explain the Herald's actions if true.
[08:54 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: What actions are those?
[08:54 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: In general supporting griefer activities over all the years through positive press.
[08:55 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: If you're relative is a griefer, it makes sense.
[08:55 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Okay, just in general then?
[08:55 AM] Kalel Venkman: Despite the apparent refusal of the public to support the Herald's latest crusade for what they call "Hacktivism".
[08:55 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Well, yeah, that makes sense--nothing more bias than the Herald.
[08:56 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Right. Sariah Raye McCracken, who is the sister of Deadly, shows [--- RL NAME REMOVED ---] as a sister. Both families seem to have multiple marriages and remarriages. The only issue I'm getting held up on is geolocation ties.
[08:57 AM] Kalel Venkman: The word must be spreading like wildfire in what passes for the griefing community.
[08:58 AM] Jeffrey Essex: if its true and h dos or has passes should we look out for increased activites from the PN?
[08:58 AM] Kalel Venkman: It must be a huge wakeup call that somebody so notorious could be struck down this way - and the whole "Pool's Closed Due to AIDS" meme has stopped being funny.
[08:58 AM] Kalel Venkman: That's actually a very intelligent question, Jeffrey.
[08:59 AM] Samantha Lowell: Count on someone to capitolize on it in the griefer cvommunity. There's a lot of infighting, and when someone ddoes, look for some unpleasantness. Some anon will probably do it "for the lulz"
[08:59 AM] Kalel Venkman: We might - but it's hard to tell. They may see this as a unifying factor.
[08:59 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: One noticable change off the bat is Deadly's websites and hosting is shut down everywhere.
[09:00 AM] Samantha Lowell: I noted that myself, mav
[09:00 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Not if he hasn't made hosting payments, for obvious reasons.
[09:00 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Well, yes, that's possible, too.
[09:00 AM] Samantha Lowell: Okay, so what do we know? He's either dead or in extremis.
[09:01 AM] Kalel Venkman: Considering the last post, he's probably dead.
[09:01 AM] GreenLantern Excelsior: Here's a place to check, maybe: [--- LINK REMOVED ---]
[09:01 AM] Samantha Lowell: Implications of this, inworld, are unknown but I think Jeff is correct: This could trigger a spike of activity.
[09:01 AM] GreenLantern Excelsior: I don't see any from Augusta in there though
[09:03 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Wouldn't be. He only went into the hospital in October
[09:03 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: *october
[09:03 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Hmmm, well if it just happened, it might be a few days anyway.
[09:03 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: Right, it appears that if he passed, it was since Friday.
[09:04 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: So that would be a good source to keep an eye on for confirmtion.
[09:04 AM] Kalel Venkman: They might not do anything about the obit till after the funeral.
[09:04 AM] Kalel Venkman: A death of somebody in the immediate family pretty much rips apart the thread of daily life.
[09:05 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: That's true, but keep an eye out there and if you see one--it's confirmed and there's no longer any question at all.
[09:05 AM] Prettykitty Gumbo: what was his real name?
[09:05 AM] Maverick Grunfeld: And I'll be extremely rude here too, depending on his family there may not be one. Not all families, especially those from the South, will want to toss out there their son died of AIDS.
[09:05 AM] Kara Timtam: They are often funeral announcements as well. Unless there's someone they don't want to show up to the funeral...
[09:05 AM] Kara Timtam: like us
[09:05 AM] Kara Timtam: No real names in the meeting log please.
[09:05 AM] Kalel Venkman: His family may know nothing about us.
[09:06 AM] Jeffrey Essex: if its true maybe we can send our prayers and sympathy.
[09:06 AM] Samantha Lowell: The lag in obituaries is usually two days, give or take
[09:06 AM] Prettykitty Gumbo: I agree
[09:06 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: If they're that open on Facebook, I'd think they wouldn't be hesitant about an obituary. And they can always just cite natural causes. They don't have to give the actual cause.
[09:06 AM] Emiley Tomsen: We would never do something like that, show up at a RL funeral for an enemy, that's asking for trouble.
[09:06 AM] Kalel Venkman: Deadly was a lost soul from the beginning.
[09:07 AM] Jeffrey Essex: Don't have to show up but send a message is what I mean
[09:07 AM] Kalel Venkman: I'm very sad that he has come to this end without a chance to make things right.
[09:07 AM] Emiley Tomsen: Send what kind of message?
[09:07 AM] Samantha Lowell: I wonder what the long term impact his absence from the griefer core will be...
[09:07 AM] Kalel Venkman: Long term? He'll be forgotten.
[09:08 AM] Kalel Venkman: Short term, for the next year, yes, shock.
[09:08 AM] Samantha Lowell: Short term? I think we'll see a spike of activity and some in fighting
[09:08 AM] Kara Timtam: A hard dose of reality
[09:08 AM] Prettykitty Gumbo: nods
[09:08 AM] Kalel Venkman: CDurd770 Halfpint's PD reports that griefing is WAY down.
[09:08 AM] BilliAnn Bravin: Maybe it will be a wake up call for a few. Who knows?
[09:08 AM] Kalel Venkman: They're actually getting bored.
[09:08 AM] Kara Timtam: Maybe each will look at his own life and get serious. Maybe. Even one, would be an improvement.
[09:09 AM] Bobkoe Nirvana: but we still should stand tall in case a next wave of griefers follow through
[09:09 AM] Kalel Venkman: I agree, Bob - we can't let our guard down.
[09:09 AM] Emiley Tomsen: I can see the in-fighting, since AIDs is still many times beleived to be more associated with gay persons. People who don't like this guy, inculding his fellow griefers may start throwing around insults like he was secretly gay and bash him in various ways.
[09:09 AM] Prettykitty Gumbo: That's sad
[09:10 AM] Kalel Venkman: That will serve to splinter them even more, making them easier to manage.
[09:10 AM] Samantha Lowell: That said, I think a message of condolenceon the Kypton radio website might not be out of place when the obituary airs. Just a simple message of sympathy to friends and family, no editorial comment. We take the igh road

JLU check their pockets for something Soft
We found this MOST interesting
[18:11] ZenMondo Wormser: Well honestly we don't know WHAT he was banned for as the lab never discusses reasons withe the reporters. For all we know it could have been something he did reported by non-league members. Just sayin'
[18:11] Vagabond Carter: soft said as much
[18:11] Siobhan McCallen: But the attitude of someone who blithely places trackers for the purpose of harassing people, even if the act does not *directly* violate the ToS is highly suspect and I, personally, felt that it ruined my experience in SL, even though I could not point to a rule it broke.
[18:11] Kalel Venkman: That's true, Zen, normally.
[18:12] Melanippe Karas: I know I passed some or all to Kal... I'll have to dig.
[18:12] Siobhan McCallen: This went to great lengths to skirt the rules very carefully, to achieve this exact result.
[18:12] Kalel Venkman: But in this case, Tux was removed via a triage between Soft Linden and the governance team, and we know this because Soft Linden told us that this is what transpired.
[18:13] Kalel Venkman: So in this case we're pretty certain why a given person was removed.
[18:13] GreenLantern Excelsior: I suggest we purge that statement out of our log in anticipation of the next security breach on the wiki
[18:13] ZenMondo Wormser: Ah I was not aware of this intelligence. I guess I should start coming to the MORNING meetings.
[18:13] ZenMondo Wormser: anyway I am against tampering with logs just to cover our ass if something gets out. Does not seem the right thing to do
--------------------------------
[18:14] GreenLantern Excelsior: We finally have a Linden talking to us again. If word gets out that it happened, they will shut up again.
[18:14] GreenLantern Excelsior: We need to learn our lesson on this
[18:14] Kohaku Owatatsumi: Hm?
[18:14] Vagabond Carter: Soft isnt goernance though
[18:14] Kohaku Owatatsumi: The Lindens that were on speaking terms with us before were all fired.
[18:14] Kalel Venkman: He's referring to Soft Linden. No, he's not.
[18:14] Vagabond Carter: all he does id bug work
[18:14] GreenLantern Excelsior: He's a Linden. That's what counts
[18:14] Vagabond Carter: is
[18:15] Kalel Venkman: But he has governance's ear, and he'll act on our behalf on software related exploits.
[18:15] Kohaku Owatatsumi: Ahh, a debugger *nods*
[18:15] Kalel Venkman: So it's not the same as a general field agent, but we'll take what we can get.
--------------------------------
[18:21] Kalel Venkman: He told us that the people responsible for the spyware system were banned.
[18:21] Kalel Venkman: He didn't mention Tux by name.
[18:21] Kalel Venkman: He followed the rules.
[18:21] Kalel Venkman: Right after that, Tux was gone.
[18:21] ZenMondo Wormser: and its not to say the current people calling themselves the Wrong Hands are the same ones that stole the wiki. SOme of them I think probably have moved on.
[18:21] Maverick Grunfeld: One of our prime areas on focus should be taking all measures to prevent the wiki and our internal systems from being exposed again.
[18:21] Kalel Venkman: So we put two and two together. Soft didn't actually say "I banned Tux Winkler".
[18:11] ZenMondo Wormser: Well honestly we don't know WHAT he was banned for as the lab never discusses reasons withe the reporters. For all we know it could have been something he did reported by non-league members. Just sayin'

JLU RE: Furnation
Furnation, after the sim owners made it clear the JLU wasn't welcome the JLU discuss (3rd July 2011):
[08:39:58] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): That's the reason, although someone told me that I'm the only JLU allowed to go to the Furnation sims according to Corsi. I didn't know that until then.
[08:39:59] Kohaku Owatatsumi: Morning Feen!
[08:39:59] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Morning, Feens.
[08:40:10] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Yeah, except that Corsi isn't the final word.
[08:40:12] Kohaku Owatatsumi: That sounds like Corsi
[08:40:25] Sam Brautigan: oh, sorry, got my wires crossed, I'm reading slow today
[08:40:28] Shayera Hol (samantha.lowell): Corsi has...problems. Lots of drama in that group. I stay clear any more
[08:40:38] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): One of our alumni is an estate manager there,
and frankly, any of us that wishes to go may go.
[08:40:47] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): Wow
[08:40:55] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Vixus Snowpaw will watch our backs.
[08:40:56] Kohaku Owatatsumi: I haven't been motivated to visit there since the Age of W
[08:40:58] Sam Brautigan: I got to FN frequently, though not on duty
[08:41:06] Sam Brautigan: I have friends who build there
[08:41:22] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And Corsi has no idea who's who in the JLU anyway, except maybe me.
[08:39:58] Hal Jordan (greenlantern.excelsior): That's the reason, although someone told me that I'm the only JLU allowed to go to the Furnation sims according to Corsi. I didn't know that until then.

JLU Black Ops: Using full perm prims of suspected griefers?!
The JLU taking part in some shady activities using full perm prims of suspected griefers to cause them bans. Or as they call it, "Black Ops".
Kalel Speech...we barfed, did you?
Kalel's Speech - Oh the irony!
Evening meeting - 10th July 2011
[17:45] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): When I first came to Second Life, I didn't realize how much like real life this place can be. This virtual world is populated by the complete spectrum of humanity.
[17:46] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The vast majority are generous, thoughtful, intelligent and caring. A few, however, take delight in tormenting others. It's these few that can destroy the very fabric of this virtual society.
[17:46] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): I used to think I could script up some superpowers and tackle these people on my own. I was wrong. I can't do it alone. The job can't be done by one person.
[17:46] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): The flashy costumes and comic book personnae are a lot of fun - if it wasn't fun, we wouldn't do it. But they do more than that. These costumes are a part of our culture.
[17:46] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): They stand for something people want to believe in. They represent truth, and justice. We're more than people in brightly colored costumes. We're symbols of hope.
[17:46] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): And hope is what the people of Second Life need probably more than anything right now.
[17:47] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): Banded together, we can come to the aid of the good people of Second Life.
[17:47] Kal-El (kalel.venkman): We can earn the public trust, and come to their defense. but we can only do this if we demonstrate, time and time again, that we're on their side. And the only way to do that is to take the highest road we can.
